HDPE is the plastic used to make common plastic bags; the flimsy, single-use shopping bags that now have to be paid for in several countries.
HDPUS is the artist's most recent and ongoing work, along with her project Zantou. HDPUS is the research into the use of mass-produced plastics in art-making, referring back to traditional techniques of collage yet addressing the medium in a contemporary mindset. It is an expression of the urban space as place of being for contemporary humans, through the substances/materials it generates and the attempt to create a reconnection with the tangible and the used tool by morphing and creating a dialogue with the substance itself.
It also involves the elevation of the overlooked, a notion that permeates all of the artist's works, through the use of profane, unaesthetic materials destined to mass-production/consumption.
Addresses the current environmental debate and the urgency of this debate's spreading, cross-platform.
